moveUP Secures Strategic Investment to Expand Globally

moveUP, the leading Belgian digital health company with operations spanning the European Union, the United States, and Australia, has successfully concluded a new funding round to accelerate the expansion of its innovative health platform for its domestic and international markets.

Digital rehabilitation has shown to increase therapy adherence and outcomes, increase patient satisfaction, increase physical therapist satisfaction and lower cost for society. Digital solutions should have a place in the care services offered in Belgium.

Brussels April 19, 2022: the moveUP app for use in orthopedics has already been financed for more than 1 year by means of a convention, and this is now being formalized with the level 3 status in the mHealth validation pyramid.

moveUP and Ethias have launched a pilot study to offer bariatric patients extensive care before and after a weight-loss surgery. The proposed expert guidance spans one year per patient. The follow-up care is predominantly provided digitally using moveUP's solutions.

Belgian biotech company KiOmed Pharma and moveUP are pleased to announce the signature of an exclusive agreement for the development and licensing of a unique mobile health companion application dedicated to personalised conservative intra-articular treatment for patients suffering from osteoarthritis.

moveUP has raised €3.65 million in order to continue its success story in Belgium and beyond. The financing round was co-led by Karista (France) and White Fund (Belgium), in an international consortium with Nina Capital (Spain), CAREvolution (Belgium) and Qbic (Belgium), and moveUP’s historical investors. The financing will enable moveUP to further develop its solution and accelerate its international expansion.

Handling patient data in a compliant way is essential for staying trustworthy in the medical field. We are proud to announce that next to ISO 13485 both companies moveUP & b.clinic (the virtual clinic specialised in following up patient post surgery) have received the ISO 27001 certificate for data protection, processing, storage & transfer from auditor BQS. The reimbursement for the first mobile health application in Belgium is a fact! As from now patients receiving hip and knee replacement can experience the advantages of moveUP free of charge. First in 15 centers for a randomised controlled clinical study on +1000 patients.

To support the R&D and internationalisation strategy moveUP, the EIC (European Innovation Council) Accelerator program has awarded moveUP with a combination of grant & equity for a total value of 2,7 million Euro.
